Addon domains are great!

I am not sure i should admit to this but, i have just worked out (with the help of sitepoint) that addon domains and unlimited domain hosting actually do what i want them to do.

Before this week i have been forwarding all my different domain names to sub directories on my host. This has been producing all sorts of issues with SEO(due to framing etc...) I was about to purchase a reseller account, but thought i would post a quick note on sitepoint asking if there was any way around the problem i was having... It turns out that all this time I have been using addon domains i have been doing it wrong...

Oh well you live and learn.

Last week it was pointed out to me that the SEO on my pagerank experiment site (wellrooted)needed some work.. See comments on the previous thread...

I am not really a coder so i had to do some looking around to work out what to do. I think the site looks better as a result. No more tables!

Lets hope google finally finds it... Why is google so slow to update listings these days?

Busy Week,

I have had a very busy week submitting all my sites to a number of directory listing. I have been particularly concentrating on the network Hub site Chameleon Network and the wellrooted experiment, as these will both have links to all other network sites eventually.

I have found some really good resources for increasing PR and such that I will post here over the next couple of days.

Anything that can increase my serps is all good as organic traffic is good traffic!

Adsense on my forum was a complete flop as i guess most people are returning visitors. Maybe i will have more luck with some higher impact banner ads. I will continue with the experiment anyway :)

I am having real difficulty getting http://www.freestockphoto.eu to get anywhere in terms of search listings. I am going to work on the design and clean it up to make it a bit more seo. perhaps a nice html homepage would do the trick.

What has happened to dmoz? Is anyone else having problems submitting to dmoz?

I have heard that the best time to submit to them is when america is asleep, what I cannot work out is when america is actually asleep. I fugure that alot of webmasters work at night so perhaps the best time to submit is mid day?

Anyways there are other directories, shame they are not all PR9 but nevermind. :)

I had a busy day yesterday, i must have submitted the wellrooted experiment (see previous posts) to at least 25 page ranked link sites and directories.

I am keeping a detailed record of backlinks using a number of different link checking tools. The link summary will be provided by using "link popularity tool 3.02". Ive been using it for a while and it seems consistent.

I don't supose i am the only one who has a load of domains kicking around that I havent developed yet. Lack of time.. Cough. Cough.

Anyway I thought i would try and do something slightly more useful with one of them today. Its one of my favourites wellrooted.co.uk

What i plan to do is just link to it wherever possible, and i mean everywhere free. The plan is not to spend any money whatsoever on links. If the site happens to make any money at any time I will be permitting myself to spend that money on the site again.

I am not going to worry about what the site looks like eiether, so it will probably become one of the most ugly sites on the web, but thats not the point.

progress reports will be posted - if you have a spare spot to link the the wellrooted experiment - please do it. I will give you a recipricol link if you like.

just a quick progress update.

It looks like the adsense,overture and adbrite tester on talkmicro may not be entirely accurate. I am currently averaging only two clicks per day and I cannot imagine that with that low a CPM that the results will be worth much. I will continue anyway and report back...

I added news feeder links to my blog yesterday just in case this terns out to be anything more that my personal work log. :)

Today I launched a new venture. www.freestockphoto.eu I have heaps of photos that i have taken over the last couple of years and thought it would be a useful resource for alot of people. So all your web developers that require photos...

I will be adding an upload script once i have uploaded all my images.

Just an update on progress,

VWcircle is finally up to date on VWcup info, hopefully the changes should bring in some more search engine traffic. It has been neglected over the past 6 months, time to revamp it...
Need to add some more ads , maybe cpx.

Small adsense banner has been added to Talkmicro - not expecting much but should generate a few clicks. I have decided that traffic is not enough for a fair comparison over such a short time so im extending the test period to two weeks per program - adsense then overture then adbrite.

Chameleon Network Hub is now complete, I will be tidying it up when i get the time.
It has been pointed out to me that most people do not know chameleons have webbed feet, so the logo that reads "webbed media" may well be replaced "web media" :)

Testing the water.

Right todays next task is to sign up with a few ad agencies and test their effectiveness on my small but consistant forum www.talkmicro.com

I am going to test a few of the leading PPC programs to see what I get ther best results from. I have read heaps about this in the past at sitepoint and dnforum, but i am going to test them for myself. To start I am going to go for adsense, adbrite and overture.

I will give them one week each - results will be posted here. :)

Today two people phoned me up after finding my CV on a popular recruitment agency. I was suprised to find that I was not actually that pleased... I am not too worried about getting another Job. As long as I am making enough from the internet to keep paying the bills.

It takes the pressure off geting a job anyway!
